San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is sponsoring a Using Water Wisely Illustration contest to promote students' awareness of water as a precious natural resource. Creative inspiration is provided by Our Water a new curriculum unit developed by the SFPUC, designed to teach students about San Francisco's water resources and the importance of conservation.
Class Field Trips
What happens to our water when it disappears down the drain? Tour one of our Wastewater Treatment Plants to learn how wastewater is treated and made clean enough to put back into the environment! In addition to touring the plant, students will learn first-hand from a resident marine biologist who will teach them how to identify aquatic species using the Dichotomous Key. This tour is an excellent adjunct to the School Environmental Education Program classroom presentation.
A way to introduce your students to a variety ways they can protect and preserve our most precious natural resources. Several of our educational partners offer students the chance to engage in a series of demonstrations and activities designed to increase their knowledge, and help them identify reasons why protecting our resources are important to their survival.
The SFPUC wants to enrich the knowledge of students and educators about the protection and preservation of our water resources. We have provided reading materials, lesson plans and hands-on demonstrations to assist with this learning. Please click on any of the icons below for further information.
