San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is committed to being a good environmental citizen to our customers and their communities. We acknowledge our responsibility to help safeguard natural resources and the environment for future generations, and we continue our mission to serve San Francisco and its Bay Area customers with reliable, high quality and affordable water, while maximizing benefits from power operations and responsibly managing our waste.
San Francisco residents are fortunate to enjoy a reliable and high quality water supply from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The SFPUC, the third largest municipal utility in California, serves 2.4 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the Bay Area. Approximately one-third of water delivered goes to retail customers in San Francisco, while the other two-thirds of the water is delivered to 28 wholesale suburban agencies found in Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
Harding Park Project
Would provide recycled water to irrigate the Sharp Park Golf Course in Pacifica, and other nearby areas. When completed, the project would save approximately 40 million gallons of drinking water each year. SFPUC has partnered with the North Coast County Water District on this proposed project.
